Rec, FIBA and 3x3 basketball

From the first tip-off to the final standings.

Gym time is the expensive part of a basketball league. PowerSchedule fills your gym slots evenly, so the same four teams aren’t always tipping off at 9:45, and keeps the scores and standings up to date without a stat sheet in someone’s car.

Start from a ruleset

Every rule editable
Rec halves2 × 20 min running clock, overtime, 2 points a win
FIBA4 × 10 min stopped clock, win 2 / loss 1
3x310 min or first to 21, 1- and 2-point shots

Each one fills in the format, scoring, standings and tiebreakers, and writes starter rules for your captains that you can change.

01

Every gym slot used, fairly

Add your school or rec-centre gyms and the hour slots you’ve booked. The schedule plays every team once a week, spreads the late games evenly, and spaces out rematches so a team doesn’t see the same opponent two weeks running.

Divisions play in their own block of the night, so the B league can be out by 9 and the A league runs late.

02

Final scores, overtime included

After the buzzer either captain enters the final score with their team’s PIN. If it went to overtime they say so, and leagues that give a point for an overtime loss get it on the table.

Or keep score live from the bench: a tap for each 1, 2 or 3, the half or quarter, and anyone with the league open on their phone sees the score climb.

Standings with point differential

Two points a win or the FIBA way (2 for a win, 1 for a loss, 0 for a forfeit), overtime losses if you track them, and the tiebreakers you choose: head-to-head, point differential, points for. A blowout can be capped so it doesn’t decide the standings.

Halves, quarters or 3x3

Rec halves on a running clock, FIBA quarters, or 3x3 to 21. Each has its own starter rules for fouls, timeouts, overtime and the mercy rule.

Who’s coming this week

Each team’s roster, with captains marking players in, maybe or out for the next game, so they know before tip-off whether to find a spare.

Forfeits that count right

A forfeit goes in as 20–0 (or your score), with or without counting toward point differential.

Can we run halves on a running clock and stop it late?
Yes. "Rec halves" is 2 × 20 minutes running, with the clock stopping in the last two minutes and 3-minute overtimes. Change any of it under Rules.
Do we need someone on the table every game?
Only if you want to. Table duty can be assigned to a team that’s playing that night, like a volleyball ref team, or left off.
Can a game end in a tie?
If your league allows it. Turn ties on and regulation ties stand; leave them off and the game goes to overtime.
We also run a volleyball league. Is that extra?
No. One yearly price covers every league you run, whatever the sport.
